Practice Boundary

Over the last few years the Erskine Practice in common with other GP surgeries in Dundee has experienced a significant increase in both list size and in the volume of patient care.  The practice had to consider options to manage workload to ensure that we could continue to provide a high standard of care to patients.  We therefore decided to reduce our practice boundaries to maintain a manageable patient list size.

A map of the area now covered by the practice is shown below.

Unfortunately this means that if a patient currently registered to this practice moves house to an address that falls out with our catchment area the practice staff will inform them that they need to register with an alternative practice whose boundary includes the new address.

Practitioner Services (NHS National Services Scotland) will also write to the patient after we have notified them that the patient has moved to an address which lies outside our boundary.  This letter will inform the patient that they have 30 days to find an alternative GP before being automatically deducted from the Practice list.  They will also send an information leaflet detailing how to register with another GP. Thereafter the Practice is unable to provide medical services

The practice recognises this may cause upset for all patients affected by this change, especially for patients who have ongoing health problems or have been registered with the Erskine Practice for a long time.  However, we must consistently apply the practice boundary for all patients in a fair way to ensure we treat everyone equally.
